PT Tunas Inti Abadi (TIA), as part of its strategic initiative to support the growing demand for coal logistics and distribution, plans to increase its installed loading capacity from the current 1,500 Tons Per Hour (TPH) to 2,500 TPH. This enhancement is not only intended to accommodate current operational needs but also to anticipate future increases in shipping volumes. Additionally, TIA is committed to upgrading the status of its port facilities from a Dedicated Terminal (TUKS) to a Public Terminal (TUKU), enabling it to serve broader commercial interests and operate under a more flexible, service-oriented model.
As a logical consequence of this planned capacity upgrade, a comprehensive technical assessment of the existing jetty structure is required. The evaluation aims to verify whether the current jetty can withstand the anticipated barge loads, which are projected based on real-time tidal elevation conditions at the site. This assessment is critical to ensure that the structure can safely support the increased operational demands without compromising its structural integrity, operational continuity, or long-term durability under maritime environmental conditions.
To ensure proper oversight and alignment with sound corporate governance principles, PT ABM Investama Tbk (ABM), the parent company of TIA, has appointed PT Zekon Inti Rekayasa (ZIRA)—an independent engineering consultancy with expertise in maritime civil structures—to conduct a technical review of the existing jetty. The scope of the review includes structural analysis of jetty components, assessment of the design capacity against the new operational loads, and consideration of actual seabed profiles, tidal variations, and other environmental parameters relevant to the facility.
The findings of this study will serve as a technical and financial decision-making reference, particularly in identifying the need for reinforcement, retrofitting, or redesign of structural elements that may no longer meet required engineering standards. With a data-driven, comprehensive engineering approach, this development initiative is expected to be executed in a safe, efficient, and sustainable manner—supporting the long-term vision of the company to establish a reliable and competitive coal logistics system on both national and international levels.
